Countdown To February

by admin - 17:15 on 03 December 2010

The first week in February has been pencilled in for the official launch of The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery. Fame and fortune can't be far behind.

Current climatic conditions had eased enough today for Dolphin James and me to visit Norman in his inky eyrie, ask a few technical questions and set his mind at rest that we didn't expect delivery before Christmas. The job will take four weeks, he told us, and his printing empire is busy at the moment.

But he liked the book (or is a very good actor) and appears keen to reproduce it as best he can. Quality can't be rushed. It doesn't come cheap, either – a reduction in his quote was broached but he promised us nothing unless we order more than a thousand copies, when better-value litho printing can replace digital.

That's beyond us at the moment, but about half of the first print run of two hundred is already spoken for. To reserve your copy, at a laughably cheap £19.95 (plus p&p if necessary), click here and leave your details.

Weather Update: Mr Ford's digital dashboard display showed -14C on the way home from last night's camera club meeting; today it was a balmy +1C. Bess will be relieved when the thaw begins and the ground is soft enough for her to carry out her pre-business digging. The unhappy puss has been driven to use the despised litter tray.

Hopefully the first of many publications by Bassman Books.
